Learn how to make healthy and delicious homemade applesauce from scratch with this simple tutorial.
There’s nothing more comforting than a bite of warm and lightly sweetened homemade applesauce, especially when it comes straight from the stovetop. This recipe makes such a healthy snack or even a tasty side dish to a meal and kids love it! And it’s as easy as peeling and chopping a few apples and throwing them in a pot with some simmering water, brown sugar and cinnamon.
What You need to make homemade applesauce:
medium size stock pot
apple peeler
water
brown sugar
cinnamon
long handled spoon
potato masher
First, you’ll need to decide which type of apples you want to use to make your applesauce. Although I chose to use Fuji apples for this recipe, almost any apple will work well. However, the only apple that I would not recommend using is the Red Delicious as the texture of this apple is not suited for applesauce.
You can customize your applesauce by the variety of apple you choose to use. You may prefer a sweet apple or a more tart tasting apple depending on your preference.

Sweet apples varieties:
Fuji
Gala
Mcintosh
Honeycrisp
Tart apple varieties:
Granny Smith
Golden Delicious
